Current Needs

We are a volunteer-led organization with more than 250 volunteers. In 2024 volunteers donated over 33,000 hours of time. We welcome everyone, recognizing that each of us contributes our unique experiences, skills, and talents that strengthen our organization. Below are the areas of highest need throughout the year.

  • The bulk of the weekly food is supplied by visiting local grocery stores. The driver and assistant use an SFB-CRC vehicle to rescue donated items.

    *Must have a safe driving record and current driver’s licence. Up to 40 lbs of lifting required.

  • Interact with clients in the distribution line to help them choose groceries. Clients can select their food items based on personal preferences and dietary needs. Ensure that the shelves are well-stocked. Restock supplies as needed to maintain an organized distribution experience.

    *Standing, lifting and positively engaging with clients in a fast-paced environment.

  • Sort and prepare grocery rescue produce for client distribution.

    *Food Handler’s permit preferred. Standing and some lifting.

  • Welcome clients with a warm smile! During distribution hours, you will have to verify ID and keep an updated list of which clients came in order. Daily tasks include answering phones and welcoming visitors.

    *Sitting position, some office skills required.
