About us

In 2009, the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona saw a great need for food in Sahuarita and nearby communities. The Good Sheppard United Church of Christ began hosting the Sahuarita Food Bank, which served just a few families each week. Now, we serve 350-450 families each week.

The Sahuarita Food Bank became an independent Arizona nonprofit in early 2018. As an independent nonprofit, we can broaden our services to better meet the needs of our community.

Fundraising for a new building began in 2018. This was accomplished, and we settled into our 14,3000-square-foot building in January 2022. We now offer many services and programs that meet the needs of family support, health and nutrition, and workforce development. These programs improve economic and overall well-being.

  • Building relationships and partnerships with people and organizations who share our values and vision of a healthy, hunger-free community.

  • Excelling in the delivery of our services to benefit clients, donors, and the communities we serve.

  • Being resourceful and innovative in addressing hunger and its root causes.

  • Promoting diversity and inclusion while treating each person with dignity and respect.

  • Providing equal opportunities for our employees, volunteers, and those we serve.

  • Empowering people to help their communities thrive.
