Wonders of the Desert: Nature Play & Storytime

Join us for an enriching sensory adventure in Wonders of the Desert, where young children (ages 2–5) explore the natural world through play-based, developmentally appropriate outdoor activities. Guided by a trained nature-based educator, each session offers three to four fun hands-on experiences—like digging, building, crafting, and observing—designed to spark curiosity and build early learning skills. We’ll wrap up with a themed Storytime that ties everything together, helping little ones connect, imagine, and grow in nature. All participants will be given a Family Activity page in English & Spanish to extend the learning and fun at home.

This week’s class You, Me, and the Desert – Our Environment, children learn what makes the desert special, how people are part of nature, explore with their senses, practice caring for the environment, and connect with family through shared nature activities.

Family connect & play

Come relax, connect, and let the kids play! Join other parents and caregivers for an informal time to share the ups and downs of raising children, connect over coffee, and enjoy support from fellow families. While kids enjoy supervised free play in our playroom, grown-ups can chat, share resources, and discuss what programs or support they’d like to see at the Family Resource Center. Occasionally, we’ll welcome special guest speakers on parenting, child development, and more.
